Are you ready to get cheeky?

As we get older our face begins to fall and that’s because those glorious little fat pads in our cheeks begin to fade away. Gravity gets us all, but that’s okay, we’ve got the tools and the skills to help combat the test of time. One of the tools in our arsenal is Voluma. Voluma is a hyaluronic acid (HA for short) filler that works to lift and restore volume in our cheeks. Now if you’re freaking out thinking you’re going to end up looking like Alvin and the Chipmunks, no need to worry. Voluma works to lift and contour without creating a chubby cheek effect. In fact, in a clinical study patients reported looking 5 years younger on average. Win, win! Not sure if Voluma is right for you? That’s okay! Below are our 8 most frequently asked questions.

1. What is Voluma made of?
Voluma is a hyaluronic acid (HA for short) filler. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found within the human body. It’s completely natural, which means your body breaks it down over time.

2. Where is Voluma injected?
Voluma is injected into the cheek area. It was created and tailored to add volume, creating lift and contour in the midface.

3. Is there downtime with Voluma?
Every person is different. Slight swelling is common as are bruises at the injection site, but will often dissipate within a week. We recommend not working out the same day as your injectable appointment, but you can return to all physical activity the following day.

4. Does Voluma hurt?
There may be slight discomfort at the injection site. We apply ice in-office to injected areas and recommend you continue icing the remainder of that day. Cheeks may feel slightly tender for a couple days following the procedure, but should not hurt.

5. When will I begin seeing results?
Results are immediate!

6. How long will my results last?
Voluma is FDA approved to last up to 2 years. HA is dissolved by the body at different rates so results do vary.

7. Who performs the injection?
Dr. Matthew Wolpoe performs all injections. He’s a double board certified facial plastic reconstructive surgeon and otolaryngologist. This means he has a thorough understanding of facial anatomy ensuring results will look smooth and natural.

9. How much does Voluma cost?
Voluma is sold per 1cc syringe. Depending on your desired result cost will vary from $800 – $1600. Right now we’re offering $250 OFF until the end of January 2019! Just mention this blog to receive the discount!

8. I have an event coming up and want to look my best. When should I book?
If you have a big event coming up we recommend booking your injectable appointment about 3 weeks before in order to ensure ample time for any bruising or swelling to reside.

Questions we didn’t answer? Give us a call! We love chatting and will do our best to answer anything you have in mind. We want you to feel your best, inside and out!

ABOUT
Guinevere Ayers gayers@billingsclinic.org

My name is Guinevere and I’m a twenty-something woman, born and raised in Montana. After a brief hiatus to experience the big ol’ world (Nebraska… yeah… I know) I’m back in Big Sky country, navigating life and working at Billings Clinic as a consultant in the Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery department. I have degrees in Medical Anthropology and Biology. I’m a lover of lazy Sunday mornings, a connoisseur of mac and cheese and I often find myself in situations that make my mother laugh and say, “what am I going to do with you.” I previously struggled to find articles about topics I was interested in, that were fun to read, down to earth and informative. Somewhere along the fruitless journey of wandering the Internet I figured, why not just trial the things I’m interested in and write about it myself. Thus, I bring you my experiences with the aesthetic side of medicine and cosmetics. It's going to be a wild ride!
